Winslow Judo Club was founded in May 1993 and is a member club of the British Judo Association.
Several past Judoka (players) have reached Area, National and International standard. However, most players just enjoy the sport at a local recreational level. All of our coaches are qualified and accredited BJA coaches.
The training hall has a large mat area on a semi-sprung floor.
Visitors are very welcome to visit, see the club in action, ask any questions or join in a session to give the sport a try.
Winslow Judo Club is twinned with a French Judo Club in
Cours - La Ville and visits to each other take place each
year.

The sport of Judo was founded by Professor Jigoro Kano
between 1882 and 1887 in Tokyo, Japan.
Judo is derived from two words, "Ju" meaning "gentle" and "do" meaning "way." Thus, Judo means "Gentle Way."
In 1964, Judo was included in the Olympic Games held in Tokyo.
Today, the techniques of Judo are also included in many military training regimens around the world. Because of the one-on-one nature of Judo, it is ideal for close quarters combat.
In 1948, the British Judo Association was established in London by Mr. Gunji Koizumi.
